United Indoor Football Week Ten Preview

Omaha, NE - Week ten of the United Indoor Football season is here. The conference races get closer and more competitive every week. This weekend's games include an I-29 battle between the Beef and the Bandits, a week 8 re-match of the Rage and the Storm, the first meeting of the Wild and the Ice as well as a potential shootout involving the Extreme and the Outlaws.

OMAHA (7-2) vs. SIOUX CITY (3-5)

At Sioux City, IA

Saturday, 7:05 p.m. Central

The Sioux City Bandits welcome one of their I-29 rivals, the Omaha Beef, to the Tyson Events Center for a Saturday night showdown. The game will be the 17th meeting of the two franchises since they started playing each other in 2002. In their last action, Sioux City fell to Sioux Falls 51-46 last Saturday at the Sioux Falls Arena. Leading the way for the Bandits were quarterback Chad Kapanui and defensive lineman Letarius Lee. Kapanui completed 16 of 29 passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for three touchdowns. Lee tied for the team lead with four tackles while also forcing a fumble, made a sack and also blocked a kick. In their last action, the Beef defeated Wichita 67-16 last Saturday at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. Leading the way for Omaha were quarterback James McNear and a solid defensive effort. McNear tallied 85 yards of total offense (nine rushing and 76 passing) and had a hand in five touchdowns (two rushing and three passing). The defense tallied nine tackles for loss and three sacks. In addition, they forced three fumbles (recovering two), intercepted six passes and broke up five more.

RIVERCITY (3-5) vs. SIOUX FALLS (6-2)

At Sioux Falls, SD

Saturday, 7:05 p.m. Central

The Sioux Falls Storm complete a two-game homestand at the Sioux Falls Arena by facing off with the RiverCity Rage Saturday evening. The two teams met in week 8 at the Family Arena in St. Charles, Missouri, with the Storm slipping past the Rage 41-32. Sioux Falls comes into this contest having won four in-a-row, the latest being over Sioux City 51-46 last Saturday at home. Leading the way for the Storm were quarterback Terrance Bryant and their defense. Bryant completed 15 of 21 passes for 144 yards and four touchdowns. The Storm's defense tallied seven tackles for loss, two sacks and two interceptions. RiverCity fell to Bloomington 51-42 last Saturday at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Leading the way for the Rage were defensive back Ron Rockett and quarterback Steve Rush. Rockett made a team-high 6.5 tackles and also broke up a pass. Rush had 164 yards of total offense (42 rushing and 132 passing) and a hand in three of the Rage's touchdowns (one rushing and two passing).

WICHITA (1-7) vs. COLORADO (3-5)

At Loveland, CO

Saturday, 7 p.m. Mountain

The Colorado Ice continue their three-game homestand by hosting the Wichita Wild Saturday evening at the Budweiser Events Center at the Ranch. The matchup will be the first-ever between the two teams. In their last action, the Ice clipped the Billings Outlaws 39-37 at home. Leading the way for Colorado were quarterback Ryan Clement and linebacker Ryan Palmer. Clement completed 12 of 21 passes for 145 yards and three touchdowns; he added a rushing touchdown. Palmer led Colorado with a team-high 8.5 tackles and also had a tackle for loss. Wichita fell 67-16 to the Omaha Beef last Saturday at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. The Wild were led by quarterback Efi Eyo and linebacker Earl Henry. Eyo tallied 53 yards of total offense (24 rushing and 29 passing) and one touchdown (to Donald Payne). Henry made a team-high eight tackles (two TFL) and also forced a fumble.

BLOOMINGTON (5-4) vs. BILLINGS (5-3)

At Billings, MT

Saturday, 7:05 p.m. Mountain

The Billings Outlaws return home to battle with the Bloomington Extreme Saturday evening at Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark. The game will be the second all-time between the teams as they met last year on July 7th with the Extreme winning at home 49-31. Billings is coming off a 39-37 defeat at the hands of the Colorado Ice last Friday in Loveland. The Outlaws were led by quarterback Chris Dixon and defensive lineman Eugene Phillips. Dixon completed 23 of 34 passes for 198 yards and four touchdowns. Phillips tied for the team lead in tackles with five and also contributed two tackles for loss and two sacks. In their last action, Bloomington defeated RiverCity 51-42 last Saturday at home. Bloomington was led by linebacker Blue Aldridge and quarterback Dusty Burk. Aldridge made a team-high 8.5 tackles and also broke up two passes. Burk had 231 yards of total offense (51 rushing and 180 passing) and also threw for five touchdowns.
