
United Indoor Football Week Nine Preview

Omaha, NE - Week nine of the United Indoor Football season is here. This weekend's games include two crucial conference clashes and two important non-conference contests. All of the games will feature old and new geographic rivalries between the teams. The games are as follows: the Ice host the Outlaws, the Beef welcome the Wild, the Extreme face off with the Rage and the Storm meet up the with the Bandits.
BILLINGS (5-2) vs. COLORADO (2-5)
At Loveland, CO
Friday, 7:05 p.m. Mountain
The Colorado Ice host the Billings Outlaws for the second time in four weeks this evening at the Budweiser Events Center at the Ranch. This game will be the fifth time the teams have met in their histories. The Ice are coming off a 38-23 loss to the Omaha Beef last Saturday evening at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. Colorado was led by wide receiver Brian Sump and defensive back Quentin Womack. Sump caught a team-high seven passes for 89 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for two touchdowns. Womack led Colorado with a team-high nine tackles (eight solo and assisted on two more). Billings is coming off a 55-13 win over the Wichita Wild 55-13 last Saturday evening at Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark. The Outlaws were led by quarterback Chris Dixon and their defense. Dixon completed 15 of 20 passes for 193 yards and five touchdowns (four to Robert Reed and one to Willie Austin). The Outlaws' defense tallied seven tackles for loss and two sacks, intercepted a pass, broke up seven more passes and also blocked a kick.
WICHITA (1-6) vs. OMAHA (6-2)
At Omaha, NE
Saturday, 7 p.m. Central
The Omaha Beef welcome the Wichita Wild to the Omaha Civic Auditorium Saturday evening. The teams are no strangers to each other having met just three weeks ago at the Kansas Coliseum with the Beef winning 31-24. Omaha beat the Colorado Ice 38-23 last Saturday evening at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. The Beef were led by quarterback James McNear and a solid defensive effort. McNear tallied 239 yards of total offense (62 rushing and 177 passing) and had a hand in three touchdowns (one rushing and two passing). The defense tallied three tackles for loss, a sack, a fumble recovery, an interception, four pass break ups and even blocked a kick. Wichita fell last weekend to Billings 55-13 at Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark. The Wild were led by defensive back Ene Akpan and quarterback Efi Eyo. Akpan made 4.5 tackles (one TFL) and a sack. Eyo tallied 105 yards of total offense (21 rushing and 105 passing) and one touchdown (to Carlos Cavanaugh).
RIVERCITY (3-5) vs. BLOOMINGTON (4-4)
At Bloomington, IL
Saturday, 7:05 p.m. Central
The Bloomington Extreme host the RiverCity Rage Saturday evening at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum. The match-up will be the fourth in the past two seasons between the teams. Last Saturday, Bloomington edged the Sioux City Bandits 53-49 last Saturday evening at the Tyson Events Center. The Extreme were led by quarterback Dusty Burk and defensive lineman Quince Holman. Burk completed 16 of 26 passes for 228 yards and five touchdowns while also rushing for 26 yards and another score. Holman tied for the team lead with nine total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, forced a fumble and also had a quarterback hurry. RiverCity fell 41-32 last Saturday to the Sioux Falls Storm. The Rage were led by linebacker Joe Bevis and new quarterback Steve Rush. Bevis made a team-high 9.5 tackles (seven solo and assisted on five more), .5 tackle for loss and also had a quarterback hurry. Rush had 138 yards of total offense (96 rushing and 42 passing) and a hand in all four of the Rage's touchdowns (two rushing and two passing).
SIOUX CITY (3-4) vs. SIOUX FALLS (5-2)
At Sioux Falls, SD
Saturday, 7:05 p.m. Central
The Sioux Falls Storm will meet up with one of their longtime rivals as they host the Sioux City Bandits Saturday night at the Sioux Falls Arena. The teams have met a total of 21 times in the past eight seasons. Sioux Falls slipped past the RiverCity Rage 41-32 last Saturday at the Family Arena. Leading the way for the Storm were quarterback Terrance Bryant and defensive lineman Rachman Crable. Bryant completed 21 of 27 passes for 159 yards and four touchdowns. Crable led the Storm's defense with seven tackles, a tackle for loss, a sack and also broke up a pass. Sioux City fell to Bloomington 53-49 last Saturday at home. The Bandits were led by quarterback Chad Kapanui and defensive back John Zevenbergen. Kapanui completed 15 of 25 passes for 183 yards and three touchdowns; he also rushed for 36 yards. Zevenbergen made a 5.5 tackles and also intercepted a pass.
