
United Indoor Football Week Fifteen Review

Omaha, NE - Week fifteen brought the United Indoor Football regular season to a conclusion. The playoff match-ups are now set in both conferences. This weekend saw the Western Conference win all four match-ups as the Ice defeated the Wild, the Outlaws rumbled past the Rage, the Beef beat the Bandits and the Storm slipped past the Extreme.
COLORADO 56, WICHITA 24
At Loveland, CO
The Colorado Ice defeated the Wichita Wild 56-24 Friday evening at the Budweiser Events Center. The Ice were led by quarterback Garrett Mehl and a solid defensive effort. Mehl completed 16 of 22 passes for 232 yards and threw for six touchdowns (to three different receivers); he also rushed for five yards. Colorado's defense tallied nine tackles for loss, two sacks, an interception (by Travis Garcia), forced a fumble (also by Garcia) and broke up four passes. Wichita was led by linebacker Earl Henry and running back John Randle. Henry made a team-high nine tackles and a sack while also intercepting a pass. Randle tallied 159 all-purpose yards (26 rushing and 133 kickoff returns) and scored two rushing touchdowns. Colorado finishes their second season in the UIF with a 6-8 record while Wichita finishes their first season in the league with a 2-12 record.
BILLINGS 45, RIVERCITY 23
At St. Charles, MO
The Billings Outlaws rumbled past the RiverCity Rage 45-23 Saturday evening at the Family Arena. Billings was led by quarterback Chris Dixon and defensive back Travonti Johnson. Dixon tallied 182 yards of total offense (18 rushing and 164 passing) and had a hand in four touchdowns (one rushing and three passing). Johnson made 3.5 tackles and a tackle for loss while intercepting a pass and breaking up another. Leading the way for the Rage were linebacker Joe Bevis and running back David Daniels. Bevis made a team-high nine tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss while also breaking up a pass. Daniels tallied 145 all-purpose yards (16 rushing and 129 kickoff returns). In the first round of the UIF playoffs, Billings will host Omaha while RiverCity welcomes Sioux City; both games will be played Saturday, June 21st.
OMAHA 34, SIOUX CITY 9
At Omaha, NE
The Omaha Beef beat the Sioux City Bandits 34-9 Saturday evening at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. Leading the way for Omaha were quarterback James McNear and the team's defense. The Beef's defense tallied six tackles for loss and four sacks while also recovering a fumble, intercepting a pass, breaking up five more passes and blocking a field goal. On offense, McNear tallied 107 yards of total offense (46 rushing and 61 passing) and a hand in four total touchdowns (two rushing and two passing). Leading the way for the Bandits were defensive back Chad Husted and wide receiver O.J. Simpson. Husted made four tackles and broke up three passes. Simpson tallied 114 all-purpose yards (four rushing, 73 receiving and 37 kickoff returns). In the first round of the UIF playoffs, Omaha travels to Billings while Sioux City hits the road as well, to RiverCity, as both games will be played Saturday, June 21st.
SIOUX FALLS 49, BLOOMINGTON 41
At Sioux Falls, SD
The Sioux Falls Storm slipped past the Bloomington Extreme 49-41 Saturday evening at the Sioux Falls Arena. Sioux Falls was led by quarterback Terrance Bryant and defensive lineman Cory Johnsen. Bryant accumulated 93 yards of total offense (eight rushing and 84 passing) and threw for three touchdowns to lead the offense. Johnsen led the defense with 4.5 tackles and four tackles for loss while also making two sacks and recovering a fumble. Bloomington was led by defensive back Mike Crumpler and running back Andre Raymond. Crumpler made 2.5 tackles and ½ a tackle for loss while also intercepting a pass, returning it five yards for a touchdown. Raymond tallied 235 all-purpose yards (seven rushing, 23 receiving, 180 kickoff returns and 25 missed field goal returns) and scored two touchdowns (one rushing and one passing). The Extreme's defense tallied two tackles for loss and two sacks while also breaking up a pass and recovering two fumbles. In the UIF playoffs, Sioux Falls will host the winner of the Billings-Omaha game on Saturday, June 28th while Bloomington will host the winner of RiverCity-Sioux City on Monday, June 30th.
