Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide News Release

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, ME - A pair of Black Bears will be making their way to Old Orchard Beach to play for the Raging Tide this summer. The Tide are welcoming back Jeff Gelinas for his second season in Old Orchard Beach. In addition to Gelinas, teammate Jake Osborne will be making the move as well.

Gelinas is a Saco native who attended Thornton Academy. While at Thornton, Jeff was a two-year captain and featured both as a pitcher an infielder throughout his high school career. He was named All-State at first base while also making the second team selection as a pitcher. Gelinas was a Gatorade Player of the Year finalist while also being named the Showcase League Pitcher of the Year.

As a freshman this year, the Black Bears intend to use him as a two way player throughout the season. His pitching repertoire could land him in the starting rotation. For the Raging Tide last season, Gelinas appeared in 8 games and amassed a solid 3.85 ERA.

Jake Osborne joins the Raging Tide as a native of Burlington, Ontario. The Canadian outfielder was also a two-year captain like Gelinas at Nelson High School. Osborne batted .600 in the New Era Cap Classic and was also the top 17U hitter in 2012 at Florida Spring Training. One the field, he was named the 2013 Nelson High School Male Athlete of the Year and the Burlington Athlete of the Year.

In the classroom, Jake was a four-year honor roll student and won the Dane Tutton Award in 2013 for the student-athlete with the highest academic average. In addition to his athletic capabilities, Osborne was the valedictorian of this graduating class. Like Gelinas, Osborne is also in his freshman year at UMaine. The season is just underway for the Black Bears, but Osborne has made sure to make his presence known right off the bat.
