
UIF Week One Summary

Omaha, NE - The first week of the 2007 United Indoor Football (UIF) is in the books. The season began with a huge game Friday night, as the Ice defeated the Outlaws. Week one could be described as the week of the visitors, as the Ice were the only home team to win.
OUTLAWS at ICE
In front of a crowd of almost 4,000 fans the Ice defeated the Outlaws 26-25. Ice Kicker Deric Yaussi had a stellar performance converting on 4 field goals and 2 extra points, including the game winning field goal in the 4th quarter. Defensively, the teams combined for 6 interceptions and 81 tackles. Colorado will face the Beef (1-0) in Omaha Friday night.
STORM at RAPTORS
The United Bowl II Champions picked up where they left off as they defeated the Raptors 44-31. Sioux Falls came out fast, scoring 14 unanswered points. Rock River got their first touchdown in the 2nd quarter when Luke McArdle caught a pass from Ben Sankey. With the Storm up 21-13 going into the 2nd half, a seesaw scoring battle commenced. Terrance Bryant connected with Leon Hall for a 2-yard touchdown making it 41-22. Rock River then got two straight touchdowns bringing it to 41-34. After seven plays totaling 18 yards, Adam Hicks put the Storm up 44-34 with a 26-yard field goal. The Storm will face the Billings Outlaws (1-0) in Billings and Raptors will travel to Bloomington, who did not play in week one.
RAGE at BLUECATS
The RiverCity Rage came out on top 40-37. Going into the fourth quarter, the Rage were on top 23-21. Anthony Fisher connected with "BG" Brandon Gregory evening everything at 30. With under a minute left, Muhammed Abdulqaadir scored for the Rage followed by a BlueCats TD Pass from Richard Johnson to Tommy Manus. After the kickoff, new Rage kicker Derek Kutz gave the team their first UIF victory by knocking home a 42-yard field goal. The Rage host the Lexington Horsemen (1-0) this week.
BEEF at BANDITS
The Omaha Beef defeated the Bandits 47-26 and were led by Fran Johnson who tossed three touchdowns on the night. Harold Lewis led the Beef defense with 6 tackles and 1 pass breakup. For the Bandits, it was John Ostermeyer who caught 2 touchdown passes and Hammond Russell III on defense. Russell had 4.5 tackles, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery. Omaha will host Colorado (1-0) and Sioux City will have a bye this week, before hosting bitter rival Sioux Falls in week three.
HORSEMEN at GREYHOUNDS
The Lexington Horsemen defeated the Greyhound 44-37. At the end of the first half, the score was tied at 30. The 3rd quarter saw Dieontea Stewart run for a touchdown, while Rayshawn Askew ran for his third and the Greyhounds trailed by 14 heading into the 4th. Ohio Valley cut the lead to 7 with a 1-yard run by Fred Ray, but that's all they'd get. Lexington will travel to RiverCity (1-0) and Ohio Valley will travel to Evansville (0-1) for week two.
