UIF Week Five Preview

April 20, 2007 - United Indoor Football Association (UIF) News Release

Omaha, NE - Week five includes some rematches as the Billings Outlaws and Colorado Ice will have the opportunity to avenge losses in week two to the Sioux Falls Storm and Omaha Beef respectively.

BILLINGS OUTLAWS (0-3) at SIOUX FALLS STORM (4-0)

In week two, a tight game down to the very end saw these teams go into overtime, with the Storm coming out on top 52-49 in Billings. Outlaws quarterback Chris Dixon went 23-32 with four touchdown passes, but was sacked three times. Expect the Storm defense to key on Jason Quinn who caught all four of Dixon's touchdown passes. For the Outlaws, controlling Marques Smith will be an obstacle, as he ran for three touchdowns against them. Saturday's kickoff at Sioux Falls Arena is set for 7:05 p.m.

OMAHA BEEF (3-1) at COLORADO ICE (2-2)

Just like the Outlaws, Colorado will need to have a much-improved offensive line, as Ryan Clement was sacked three times in week two by the Beef. The Ice have turned on the burners in many areas, as running back Eugene Reed leads the UIF with 249 yards, and defensive back Travis Garcia is tied for first with three picks. Kickoff at Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, CO will be at 7:05 p.m. Saturday.

ROCK RIVER RAPTORS (2-1) at RIVERCITY RAGE (4-0)

The Raptors have a two game winning streak and are coming off a 67-28 win over the BlueCats. They have the second best scoring defense, allowing 92 points, but have the seventh ranked rushing defense. The Rage will bring in the second best rushing offense, which has eight touchdowns and averages 87.2 yards per game. Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m. Saturday at Family Arena in St. Charles, MO.

SIOUX CITY BANDITS (0-3) at EVANSVILLE BLUECATS (1-3)

Johnnie Ostermeyer is sitting fourth in the UIF with 74 receiving yards per game and should be a big weapon for the Bandits in week five. The BlueCats will count on a big game from Haven Mosley, as he'll be facing the league's second best pass defense. Defensively for the BlueCats, Deion Holts and Ladrelle Bryant must be aggressive. Kickoff is at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at Roberts Stadium in Evansville, IN.

LEXINGTON HORSEMEN (3-1) at BLOOMINGTON EXTREME (0-3)

Although he leads the league in rushing touchdowns, Horsemen running back Rayshawn Askew has not yet been able to show everything he has. This game could be the game where he explodes. Lexington's offensive line hasn't surrendered a sack yet and it's largely due to the leadership of Michael Madrazo. Kickoff at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington, IL will be at 7:05 p.m. Saturday.
