UIF Sets Dates for 2007 Season; Storm Honored with League Awards

The United Indoor Football (UIF) League Meetings wrapped up last Saturday in Chicago with the league announcing some details for the 2007 season. The opening weekend of play will be on the weekend of March 24. Teams will compete in a 15 game schedule with the Storm hosting eight games and traveling to seven games. The league also announced that United Bowl III would be played on the weekend of July 28.

Following the meetings, the UIF announce its 2006 Outstanding Achievement Awards. The Sioux Falls Storm organization was recognized with five out of the eight awards. The Storm won for Best Mascot (Blizzard), Best Game Day Operation, and Best Website all of which were honors that the Storm also won in 2005. Storm President Colin Steen was recognized as UIF Executive of the Year for the second consecutive year as well. The final award that the Storm won was Dance Team of the Year. The Lightning Girls were recognized for their outstanding routines and professionalism.

Storm President Colin Steen says, "This league continues to be heading in the right direction and we feel very fortunate to be involved. The Storm is honored by all the awards we received from our "Perfect Storm" 2006 season and we will continue to work hard to give our fans a great product both on and off the field."
