May 10, 2006 - United Indoor Football Association (UIF) News Release
Omaha, NE - The Sioux Falls Storm advanced to 7-0 on the season after stand-out performances from quarterback, Terrance Bryant and linebacker, Mark Blackburn. Both players put together one of their top performances of the season and were awarded Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week. Dion Brown for the Bloomington Extreme received the Special Teams Player of the Week after tremendous efforts as a kick returner in their loss against the Rock River Raptors.
Terrance Bryant is in his second season with the Storm and led them to the UIF United Bowl I Championship last season. Bryant threw for 215-yards from 18 of 25 passing for three touchdowns against the Freedom. He also rushed for 20-yards and a score in the Storm's victory over the Ft. Wayne in Week 7. Bryant had the Storm to a five point lead with only 90-seconds left on the clock and then sealed the deal with a 21-yard touchdown pass to WR, Matt Holmlund, to give them the win 44-25. On the season Terrance is fourth in passing yards average with 157.4-yards a game. He has thrown 20 TD's on the season, which ties him for third in that category. Bryant received Player of the Week on two separate occasions last season.
Being awarded the Defensive Player of the Week was Bryant's teammate, Mark Blackburn. Blackburn is a veteran to the Storm in his fourth season and is the team's all-time leading tackler. On Saturday night versus the Freedom, Mark totaled ten tackles after he made seven solos and six assisted on the night.
