LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO --- The United Hockey League (UHL) teaming with the VH1 Save The Music Foundation announced Wednesday the dates of its "UHL Battle of the Bands" competition. Six UHL teams will host local bands at upcoming games that will compete for a trip to New York and an opportunity to perform for music executives. Proceeds from the UHL Battle of the Bands will benefit the VH1 Save The Music Foundation.
Upcoming "UHL Battle of the Bands" Dates:
Bloomington - Saturday, February 24
Chicago - Friday, March, 16
Elmira - Friday, March 2
Flint - Saturday, March 24
Quad City - Sunday, April 1

UHL clubs will invite bands from their local area to perform at "UHL Battle of the Bands" home games. Winners from these local competitions will then compete for the grand prize, which involves meeting and performing for music executives with the potential of earning a recording contract.
In addition to the competition, the home team for each of the games will wear special "Battle of the Bands" jerseys that will be auctioned off following the events. The jerseys are sponsored by Sony BMC/RCA Records and Netvisability. All proceeds from the jersey auction and the gameday silent auction will benefit the VHI Save The Music Foundation.
After a winning band from each of the six events is selected, the UHL will post mp3s of the six bands on the UHL website (www.theuhl.com) for online voting for the 2006-07 UHL Battle of the Bands Champion. Voting will take place online beginning Wednesday, April 11 and ending Wednesday, April 18. The winning band will be announced during the final week of the UHL playoffs, and will then travel to New York City to audition for music executives and possibly earn a recording contract with a music label.
