U.S. National Team News Release

BLAINE, Minn. - Ryan Haggerty's (Stamford, Conn.) shorthanded tally proved to be the lone goal for the U.S. National Under-17 Team as it fell to the Wenatchee Wild, 5-1, in its third game at the 2009 North American Hockey League Showcase here tonight.

Just 1:44 into the contest, Shawn Pauly beat netminder Matt McNeely (Burnsville, Minn.) to give Wenatchee the 1-0 lead. The Wild made it 2-0 when Jeff Jubinville scored with just 14 seconds remaining in the opening stanza.

In the second period, Nathan Sliwinksi tallied on the power-play to give Wenatchee a three-goal advantage at 6:16. Jubinville converted on a Tyler Parker feed at 8:50 to extend the Wild's lead. Haggerty struck 2:10 later to put Team USA on the board after he deked around the defender, put a shot on netminder Mac Carruth, picked up his own rebound and tucked the puck past Carruth to make it 4-1.

Jubinville registered the only goal of the third period to account for the 5-1 final.

McNeely made 30 saves on the night.

The U.S. National Under-17 Team closes out the 2009 NAHL Showcase Saturday at 4:45 p.m. CDT against defending Robertson Cup champion St. Louis Bandits at the Schwan Super Rink.
