U.S. National Under-17 Team Defeats Canada, 6-1

DAWSON CREEK, British Columbia - The U.S. National Under-17 Team topped Canada Black, 6-1, tonight in its final preliminary matchup of the 2015 World Under-17 Challenge. With the victory, Team USA finishes the preliminary round undefeated (3-0), taking the top spot in Pool A. The U.S. moves on to the quarterfinals, facing Sweden Thursday (Nov. 4) at 4:30 p.m. ET.

The U.S. National Under-17 Team meets Sweden in quarterfinal play on Thursday (Nov. 4) at 4:30 p.m. ET at Encana Events Centre in Dawson Creek. Live statistics and streaming can be found here. The victor will move on to the semifinals, facing either Canada White or Finland.

Notes: Brady Tkachuk (2-1- 3) was named U.S. Player of the Game ... The U.S. outshot Canada Black, 30-18 ... Team USA was 2-for-5 on the power play and 4-for-4 on the penalty kill during tonight's contest ... Scott Reedy is second among skaters in tournament points (7) and goals (4). The U.S. has three players (Reedy 7, Tkachuk 5, Barratt 5) in the top-10 for tournament points ... Dylan St. Cyr is second among tournament goaltenders with a .956 save percentage ... Team USA is the only team to finish preliminary play 3-0-0-0 (W-L-OTW-OTL) ... The U.S. outscored opponents, a tournament best, 12-7 in the preliminary round ... The 2015 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge includes two groups of four teams. Group A features Canada Black, Canada White, the Czech Republic and the United States, while Group B includes Canada Red, Finland, Russia and Sweden ...
