
U.S. National Under-17 Team Announces Second Round Playoff Schedule

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- USA Hockey's National Team Development Program today announced the schedule for the U.S. National Under-17 Team's Robertson Cup Playoffs second-round match-up with the Mahoning Valley Phantoms. The winner of the series will advance to the Robertson Cup Tournament in Mason City, Iowa, April 28-May 3 to compete for the USA Hockey Tier II Junior A National Championship.
Team USA holds the No. 1 seed in the North Division and will have home ice in the best-of-five series. The U.S. and the Phantoms met 10 times during the regular season, with Team USA posting a 5-4-1 record against Mahoning Valley.
Game 1 will take place Thursday, April 16 at 7 p.m. ET at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube. The squads will square off for Game 2 on Friday, April 17 at 7 p.m. in Ann Arbor once again. The series heads to Youngstown's Chevy Centre on Thursday, April 23 for Game 3, which will be at 7:15 p.m. ET. If necessary, Game 4 will be played at the Chevy Centre on Friday, April 24 at 7 :15 p.m., and Game 5 heads back to Ann Arbor on Saturday, April 25 at 7 p.m.
Team USA last apeared in the NAHL North Division Finals in the 2006-07 season where it met the Mahoning Valley Phantoms. The U.S. won the NAHL North Division Championship in 2005-06 when it defeated the Soo Indians, however Team USA was ineligible to compete in the Robertson Cup Tournament at that time.
