Drew Pearson had no idea the "hail mary" catch he made on Dec. 28, 1975 would have such an effect on the game of football. Fans of the Allen Wranglers have enjoyed the luxury of hearing Pearson talk about that day and that catch since the former Cowboy became the Wranglers' general manager in December.

On April 8th, Wrangler fans will hear the other side of the story from the man on the other side of the football. Legendary Dallas Cowboy quarterback Roger Staubach will attend the Wranglers April 8th matchup against the West Texas Roughnecks with his former teammate. Staubach will participate in pre-game ceremonies and be available to fans for autographs before the 7:35 kickoff.

Staubach was the 1963 Heisman Trophy winning quarterback out of the Naval Academy. After graduating and completing a tour of duty in Vietnam, Staubach joined the Dallas Cowboys in 1969 and led the team to Super Bowl victories in Super Bowl VI and Super Bowl XII. Aside from his outstanding career as a Cowboy, Staubach is known for that fateful day he told reporters he prayed a Hail Mary after throwing a last-minute game-winning pass to Pearson in a playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings.

The Wranglers will also be honoring the student athletes from the Lovejoy Independent School District at the game. It will be the third of seven home games for the Wranglers and will be broadcast on national television. Tickets are available online at www.allenwranglers.com or at the Wranglers office.

Staubach, Pearson and the Wranglers hope a "hail mary" won't be necessary to win the April 8th matchup, but if need be, the Wranglers have experience on their side.
