Two Point Nights for Hamilton, Carbone, and Kenny Hausinger Not Enough in 8-5 Loss

WICHITA FALLS, TX - Coming off of two losses in Topeka, and three straight overall, the Jacks were looking to get to their winning ways on Friday night in Wichita Falls. On September 13th, the Jacks opened the season with an exciting 4-3 win over the Wildcats in which Robin Johansson made 40 saves. Since then Johansson has a 1-5 record and Head Coach Greg Gatto put Johansson between the pipes trying to build some confidence for the goaltender.

"We're hoping Robin can repeat what he did in his first start here," said Gatto in a pre-game interview with Joey Battaino.

Things did not start out auspiciously for the Jacks netminder. 9:00 minutes into the hockey game, the Jacks found themselves in familiar territory as of late. Two goals from the 'Cats had the Jacks down 2-0 midway through the first. 24 seconds later, Northern Michigan commit Jesse Junttila scored his first goal of the season. 30 seconds after that, Chad Guderian scored his 2nd goal of the season to tie the game at two. The wide-open hockey continued in the first and the Jacks took advantage for the third time in a row at 15:16. Hampus Sjodahl scored off a Nicolas Carbone rebound to put the Jacks up 3-2. The Jacks outshot the 'Cats 11-7 in the first and took a 3-2 lead after 20 minutes.

In the second, the Jacks surrendered the lead at 10:10 of the second, defenseman Cam Knight jumped up in the play and took a pass Evan Okeley beating Johansson under the right pad to tie the game 3-3. Derek Brown put the Jacks back out front 4-3 at 11:44. Brown deflected a shot from Jake Hamilton from just inside the blueline. The 'Cats would tie once again at 12:37 on a right wing shot that was along the ice. When Johansson tried to deflect it to the far boards, he deflected the puck into his own net. At 18:39 the 'Cats went back out front thanks to Max Reisinger. The Wildcats lead 5-4 after two periods.

In the third, Christian Hausinger's first of the year tied the game at five apiece. His drive from the right point went in off the right post at 2:52. The Wildcats would once again go out front, and this time for good at 5:21 of the 3rd period. Austin Beaulieu scored on a wrist shot from the right circle. The 'Cats would add two more goals and score eight goals on 38 shots, beating the Jacks 8-5.

The Jacks head to North Richland Hills next weekend to take on the Lone Star Brahmas. The voice of the Jacks, Joey Battaino has the call on Friday October 24th and Saturday October 25th at 7:15 on Classic Rock 102.1 FM and FASTHockey.com
