Two More Xplorers Find Homes in Arena Football League

The Memphis Xplorers are pleased to announce that QB Rod Robinson and WR/LB George Williams were signed this week to contracts by Arena Football League teams.
Robinson, a 6'4", 240-pound quarterback, finished last season with 54 touchdowns and a 105.05 quarterback rating during his time with the Xplorers. Through 14 games with Memphis last season, he completed 217 of 369 pass attempts, throwing for 2,739 yards and only 12 interceptions.
Prior to joining the Xplorers last season, Robinson spent time as the third quarterback for the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars.
Xplorers head coach Danton Barto feels that Robinson has all the necessary elements required to make him a successful quarterback at the next level.
"There aren't many quarterbacks who have the tools that Rod possesses in any level of football," said Barto. "Rod is going to a great team in Las Vegas where he can learn, and I look for him to become a star in the Arena Football League."
Also moving up to the top level of arena football is WR/LB George Williams. Williams, who stands at 6'1" and 205 pounds, played in five games last season for the Xplorers. He pulled in 27 catches for 291 yards and five touchdowns, while also rushing for 52 yards and five touchdowns.
"George came to us from the AFL, and he proved that he belongs back in that league," said Barto. "George has the talent to be a big-time contributor at that level."
The signings of Williams and Robinson brings the total number of Xplorers players from last season on AFL rosters to four, with more expected in the coming weeks.
The Memphis Xplorers will announce several key player assignments in the lead-up to the start of training camp, which will begin March 16, as the team prepares for their most successful season in franchise history.
The Xplorers will also hold open tryouts for all interested football players above the age of 18. The tryouts, which will be held December 13-14 at Dulins Sports Academy, require a $50 registration fee to attend. The registration form can be found at www.Xplorersaf2.com.
