Tupelo FireAnts News Release
Tupelo, MS--The Tupelo FireAnts are pleased to announce the re-signing of wide receiver Darryl Carter and defensive back/kick returner Bobby Hill for the 2005 United Indoor Football season.
WR Darryl Carter is entering his second full year with the âAnts after joining the team during the 2003 season. In 13 games played with the 'Ants last season, Carter hauled in 35 passes for 642 yards and a team high 24 touchdowns.
A native of Laurel, Mississippi, Carter attended Jones County Junior College before transferring to the University of Louisiana-Monroe in 1999, where he played both quarterback and wide receiver. Upon graduation with his degree from ULM, Carter played indoor football with the Omaha Beef before making his way to Tupelo in 2003.
DB/KR Bobby Hill is an "original" FireAnt and has played with the team every season since its inception in 2001.
Hailing from Chicago, Illinois, Hill joined the âAnts for their inaugural season in 2001 after playing one year at Lakeland College. After a breakout season with the FireAnts in 2001 returning 12 kicks for touchdowns, Hill has continued solid on-field performance as the years progressed.
Last season with the âAnts, Hill returned 32 kicks for 623 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, Hill amassed 41.5 total tackles and five interceptions for 138 yards and one touchdown.
"Bobby Hill and Darryl Cater are both experienced, veteran indoor football players," Head Coach John Fourcade said. "Hill has the experience and skills to be a great two way indoor player. Carter, on the other hand, is a big time receiver and has lots of talent along with the ability to play at the next level. Both of these guys are great additions to the team."
