
Twins pick up a game on Astros

Elizabethton, TN - The Elizabethton Twins came into Thursday's game leading the Greeneville Astros by 3.5 games in the Appalachian League West division and, with a 10-2 win, picked up another game in the standings. The Astros, meanwhile, hold a three game lead on the Johnson City Cardinals for second place.
The Twins jumped to a 4-0 lead in the first inning on a force out at second with the bases loaded, a RBI single by Joshua Hendricks and a two-run single from Travis Harrison. Then, they added a run apiece over the next two innings on a RBI single from Rory Rhodes and solo homer from Adam Walker. Suddenly, Elizabethton held a 6-0 lead after the first three innings.
In the fourth inning, the Astros got a leadoff walk from Brian Blasik. Then Terrell Joyce connected on a two-run homer, his team-leading fifth of the season, to cut the Twins lead to 6-2.
Elizabethton responded with a four-run sixth inning led by a solo homer from Max Kepler, a run scored on a wild pitch and a two-run homer from Adam Walker, his second home run of the night.
Brett Lee (2-0) earned the win for the Twins by giving up no runs on one hit over 2.2 innings in relief.
