Texarkana Twins News Release

Bryan/College Station, TX - The Texarkana Twins fell to the Brazos Valley Bombers 6-0 in Bryan, Texas in what was the Brazos Valley Bombers opening home series. Texarkana struggled at the plate throughout the game, making it hard for the team to get runs on the board.

Texarkana starting pitcher Brandan Dunkleberger struggled from the very start giving up seven hits and five runs in only four innings. The Twins bullpen however was able to keep the Bombers at bay, only allowing one run the remainder of the game. While the Twins were able to get men on base, they did not have the timely hitting needed to keep up with Brazos Valley.

Bombers starting pitcher, Brad Verel, was strong over six innings, with six strikeouts, zero runs, and only one walk. Verel set the tone of the game for the Bombers which allowed the team to have success through all nine innings. The Bombers bullpen was able to keep the lead and were effective, not allowing any of the Twins to score, even though the team had multiple chances all night. At the plate, Cole Coker and Christian Sepulveda lead the team in batting averages hitting .400 and .375 respectively. Two of the top players for the Bombers this season, Coker had two RBI's and Sepulveda had one RBI for the night.

The Twins now return to Travis Field again tomorrow May 30th to face the Bombers once again. After that the Twins will continue their road trip when they face the Acadiana Canecutters May 31st and June 1st.
