Tuskers Sign Former Florida Gator Standout

ORLANDO, FL - WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 2010- Cornerback Keiwan Ratliff, who earned All-America honors for the Florida Gators in 2003, has signed with the Florida Tuskers of the United Football League. Ratliff reported to the Tuskers training camp on Tuesday evening and participated in practice on Wednesday.

A second round draft pick (49th overall) of the Cincinnati Bengals in 2004, Ratliff played six seasons in the NFL, splitting time between Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh. He appeared in 73 NFL games, recording 145 tackles, 11 pass defenses and five interceptions.

His top year in the NFL came in 2005 when he appeared in all 16 games, made three starts and recorded a career-high three interceptions. Ratliff played in eight games with the Steelers last year and went to camp with the Bengals in 2010.

Ratliff excelled as a cornerback and punt returner with the Florida Gators from 2000-03. He finished his career with 133 total tackles with 17 pass defenses and 12 interceptions. He had a huge senior season, setting single game (3) and single season (9) school records for interceptions. Ratliff was a near-consensus All-America selection that year and was named SEC Defensive Player of the Year by the Sporting News. He was also one of three finalists for the Jim Thorpe Award, which is given annually to the nation's top defensive back. Following his final season, Ratliff was selected to play in the Senior Bowl.

A versatile athlete, Ratliff excelled on special teams and was used offensively during the 2002 season, where he caught four passes for 58 yards and added 13 yards on four carries. His 860 yards on 76 punt returns remains a school record. Ratliff was an All-America selection at Whitehall-Yearling High School in Columbus, OH, where he 88 passes for 1,640 yards and 25 touchdowns over his final two seasons.

FLORIDA TUSKERS TUESDAY CAMP NOTES: Head coach Jay Gruden led his team through a light practice on Wednesday in preparation for Thursday's live scrimmage...the scrimmage will be approximately 30 plays...WR Chas Gessner, QB Chris Greisen and DT Patrick Chukwurah all returned to practice today after missing several days with injuries.
