Tuskers Defensive End Eric Moore Signs With New England Patriots; J Leman To Chargers Practice Squad

ORLANDO, FL - Friday, December 3, 2010 - Florida Tuskers defensive end Eric Moore has signed a contract with the New England Patriots of the National Football League and has been added to the team's active roster.

Moore becomes the first UFL player from the 2010 season to be signed to the active roster of an NFL team.

Moore joined the Tuskers on October 4 after spending the 2010 training camp with the Carolina Panthers, and was on Florida's roster for the final five regular-season games and the United Football League Championship Game. During the regular season, Moore had two sacks, 12 total tackles, two passes defended, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a half-tackle for loss. In the UFL Championship Game, Moore posted 1.5 total tackles and a tackle for loss.

Prior to his time in the UFL, Moore had spent four seasons in the NFL with the New York Giants (2005), New Orleans Saints (2006) and St. Louis Rams (2006-08), playing in 29 games. Originally a sixth-round draft choice of the Giants in 2005, his career NFL totals include 31 tackles and two sacks.

The Patriots (9-2) host the New York Jets (9-2) in an intriguing AFC East match up on Monday Night at Gillette Stadium.

In addition, the San Diego Chargers announced the signing of Tuskers linebacker J Leman to the team's practice squad. Leman, a mid-season season replacement, had an outstanding season with the Tuskers. Leman appeared in three regular season games and made two starts with 15 total tackles, a fumble recovery and a pass defense.

Leman led the Tuskers in tackles in the UFL championship game with six, including five solo and one assist.

Moore and Leman became the second and third Tuskers players to join the NFL since last weekend's 23-20 loss to Las Vegas in the UFL Championship game. Earlier this week, fullback James Develin was signed to the practice squad of the Cincinnati Bengals.
