AUSTIN, Tex. -- Deron Ellis' 7-yard touchown to Shandre Lewis and Robert Quiroga's 5-yard run helped the Austin Turfcats pull away to a 38-20 victory over the Texas Pirates Saturday in a Southern Indoor Football League game.
Texas cut a 16-0 deficit to 16-4 on Trumaine Dorsey's 7-yarder with 11:15 remaining in the third quarter, but the Turfcats scored the next 16 points and led 32-14 on Darren Brown's second field goal of the game, a 32-yarder with 8:16 remaining.
Ellis finished with 134 yards and two touchdowns, including a 25-yarder to Darrick Wallace. Corry Perez returned a blocked Pirates field goal 25 yards for a second-quarter touchdowns.
Dorsey accounted for all three Texas touchdowns, throwing scores to Chris Miller and Miguel Touron in addition to his rushing score.
Austin improved to 4-1, while Texas slipped to 1-3.
