Turfcats Introduce Indoor Football to San Marcos Optimist Club

Austin, TX - Ronald Oswalt, Manager/Vice-President of the Austin Turfcats franchise spoke to the San Marcos Optimist Club Wednesday about the team's philosophy of affordable, family entertainment and giving back to the community.
"I want my kids to go on the field and have a positive experience," Mr. Oswalt told the crowd at the group's monthly meeting held at Pappa Pasta restaurant. "Anything we can do to give back to our community is why we are here. I want that local feel. Our game is a little different," he said. "It is like nothing you have ever seen in your life. You go in an arena and you are 28 yards from the other sideline. The end zones are 50 yards from end to end. The players are close enough to touch and sometimes you end up with them in your lap. It looks surreal. I require the players to interact with the fans, on the field after every game."
After hearing that the average price of season ticket start at only $4.12 for season tickets, several members of the audience said they were educated on the team and sold on their philosophy of affordable entertainment that puts family first.
"We are very excited for a professional sports team to once again be a part of San Marcos," said Lisa Tanksley, President of the Optimist Club. "It is a great way to have quality, affordable entertainment for the whole family to enjoy."
