Turfcats in Action from the Gym to the Turf

March 21, 2009 - Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL)
Austin Turfcats News Release

Austin, TX -The Austin Turfcats survived their busy day in the capital city. The team began with cheerleader auditions hosted by Austin Cheer Factory and the team had many highly respected candidates to be on the inaugural squad.

Cheer Director Michelle Guidry said, "We had many good candidates and they will return tomorrow for the finals, it will be a difficult job for the judges."

The football team held its last free agent combine of the year led by Head Coach Chris Duliban to close out the day. The combine camp at Soccer Zone South had over sixty veterans and free agents in attendance and the coaches were still working to get the roster to a 40 man limit by midnight.

There were several candidates from various schools including the University of Texas, Texas State University, University of Alabama-Birmingham and Middle Tennessee State in attendance. The demand by players from all areas across America caught the eyes of the coaching staff.

"We have speed today and it was one of the most competitive camps I have been a part of in a while," said Turfcats Head Coach Chris Duliban.

Opening day for the Turfcats is April 18 versus the Acadiana Mudbugs. Affordable sponsorship opportunities are still available to local businesses and are a great way to associate your company with a professional sports team.
