Austin Turfcats News Release
Austin, TX - Turfcats coaches and players descended to Zilker Park to attend Kite Day Sunday where more than 20,000 visitors attended the annual event.
For 81 years, the Austin Kite Festival has given young and old alike a thrill in South Austin. And headlining the park at the festival, the kite contest, hasn't changed much since its first year way back in 1929. Even those not in competitions said Sunday was a great day to go fly a kite.
Categories in the kite contest included steadiest, strongest, highest angle and largest kite.
More than 10,000 special inaugural postcards and autographs were handed out by the Travis County Sherriff's Department.
Head Coach Chris Duliban along with players Darrick Wallace, Deron Ellis, Ray Hall, and Corey Perez were in attendance. Also representatives form BMC West and Home Energy Solutions were at the team booth during the outdoor event.
'Any chance we get to recruit new fans to indoor football we will be there, the weather and attendance were perfect and we are so excited to start our season versus the Mudbugs in March." added Duliban.
Opening day for the Turfcats is April 18 versus the Acadiana Mudbugs. Affordable sponsorship opportunities are still available to local businesses and are a great way to associate your company with a professional sports team.
