Turcats' Wallace Receives Player Of The Quarter Award

Austin, TX - Austin Turfcats' kick returner Darrick Wallace became a three-peat winner today when the Southern Indoor Football League announced its Hooters' Players Of The Quarter and he was once again selected for special teams honors. Wallace returned a field goal for a touchdown against North Texas and a kickoff against Louisiana. Wallace leads the league in missed field goal return yards with an average of 46.2 yards per return and in missed field goal returns for touchdowns with five. He is ranked second for kick return yards with 24.8 per return. He is also ranked second in all purpose yards with 107.7 yards per game, fourth for scoring touchdowns with 10, eighth for yards per catch with 28.0, and ninth for receptions with 19.

Turfcats players also receiving honorable mention are quarterback Deron Ellis and wide receiver Robert Quiroga for the offense, defensive back J.R. Turner, and defensive lineman Kevin Earvine and defensive back/linebacker Barrett Dallmeyer for the line. Wallace and the other Hooters Players Of The Quarter will receive a Hooters gift card. The next Hooters Players Of The Quarter will cover weeks 11-13 and will be announced July 13. The Turfcats travel to Lafayette, La Monday to avenge their first loss of the season against the Acadiana Mudbugs. Kickoff is at 7:05 p.m. at Blackham Coliseum.
