ANNAPOLIS, MD - Veteran goalie Kip Turner played a major role in the Bayhawks exciting 14-13 victory over the Cannons on Saturday night. Turner earned Bud Light MVP and MLL Defensive Player of the Week honors for his stellar performance in front of a crowd of 10,126 fans at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

"This is a well-deserved honor for Kip and our entire team," general manager Brian Reese stated. "Kip had some extra motivation playing against his former team and came up with some huge saves, especially at the end of the game, to help seal the win."

Turner made nine saves in the fourth quarter and tallied a season-high 17 saves in total as the Bayhawks won their fifth straight game. In the final five minutes, he made five saves to preserve the lead, including a save of a shot with just seconds left to secure the game victory and first place rankings in the league. Turner currently ranks fourth in the MLL with an 11.10 goals against average.

The Bayhawks return home on Saturday, August 4th to battle the Long Island Lizards. Tickets can be purchased online at www.thebayhawks.com or over the phone by calling the box office 866-99-HAWKS (42957).
