Amarillo, TX - The sounds of summer at the ballpark will resonate at ThunderHeads Stadium Saturday morning as prospective players show their skills in the hope of catching Manager Bobby Brown's eye and attention. Open tryouts will begin at 9am Saturday. The stadium is located on the Tri-State Fair Grounds, just north of Dick Bivins Stadium in Amarillo, TX. Those interested can still register online at GoThunderHeads.com or at ThunderHeads Stadium that morning. The fee is $50.
Those interested in singing the National Anthem or being the team mascot can also come out and show their stuff Saturday. Talent tryouts will take place, Noon until 3 at ThunderHeads Stadium.
The ThunderHeads will waste little time tuning up for the season. Exhibition games are scheduled for May 17 and 18, both against Pecos League opponents. May 17, Amarillo welcomes the Garden City Wind for a 2 p.m. game. May 18, the Las Vegas (NM) Train Robbers come to town. That game is scheduled to begin at 11am. Tickets will be available at the gate, at the office, 801 South Polk or by calling the (806) 242-4653. The season home opener is May 26 against the St. Paul Saints. First pitch at 7:05 p.m.
