Fayetteville Guard News Release

Fayetteville, NC – The Fayetteville HEAT held it's first of six tryouts on December 13, 2004. Despite the bone chilling and drizzling weather, more than 20 young men turned out to M.C. Riddle Stadium at Methodist College, to flex their skills in hopes of scoring a position on the Fayetteville HEAT's rooster. The Fayetteville HEAT will play its inaugural season at the Crown Coliseum Complex located in Fayetteville, NC.

Aspiring football players from the Virginia, South and North Carolina showed what they were made of with the 225 bench, vertical leap, box stumps, 40-yard dash and skill and agility drills.

"Fayetteville has a tremendous athletic talent pool and we're glad to be able to offer this opportunity for up and coming football players," said a team owner Richard King who was on-hand to preview the talent. "The Fayetteville HEAT is honored to be an active part of the community and we are looking forward to a strong, and winning, inaugural season."

The Fayetteville HEAT will hold additional tryouts through the month of January, with the next scheduled event being January 8th at the Roland Griese School in Wilmington, NC. For more information about The Fayetteville HEAT call (910) 482-4328 or e-mail at fayettevilleheat@yahoo.com.
