Austin Turfcats News Release
Austin, TX - Over 75 players showed up at the Turfcats second open tryout at Hutto High School despite winds above 30 miles per hour were howling at the start of the event and short periods of rain.
Turfcats Head Coach Chris Duliban said, "These players came to play today, we had goals and those were met today." "However, we may have to go to a third round of tryouts due to the volume of request we are getting from Texas players."
The format of the event consisted of a variety of physical tests, including the 40 yard dash, 20 yard shuttle and the standing long jump. Participants were timed and measured in all of these events.
Several veteran players showed promise as former players from former indoor teams from the Katy Copperheads, Centex Barracudas and some af2 players were in attendance.
Players from the area were well represented from the University of San Diego, Texas State University, and Texas Tech University just to name a few.
The players went through several one on one game time situations and competition drills for position play.
