Florida Tropics SC News Release
LAKELAND, Fla. - The Florida Tropics will begin a five-game Major Arena Soccer League road trip in Dallas to take on the Sidekicks Saturday night, looking to tie a team record for consecutive wins.
The Tropics recently finished a nine-game homestand, and after losing the first, reeled off eight straight wins to come into this weekend's game at 10-1. The team record for consecutive wins is nine, set in the 2019-20 season when the Tropics were 18-3 when the remaining games in the regular season and playoffs were canceled because of the Covid-19 outbreak
January's Offensive Player of the Month, Victor Parreiras, continues to lead the Tropics offense, scoring 13 goals and adding 12 assists last month. For the season, he is third overall in the league in points with 29 (15 goals, 14 assists). Zach Reget is tied for the team lead in goals with 15.
Dallas rookie Luiz Morales continues to impress as he has 14 goals on the year, including four in the Sidekicks 10-6 loss in Florida on Jan. 23.
Kickoff will be at 8:05 EST, with the game being broadcast live on the MASL YouTube Channel.
After Saturday's start, the team will be off until the final weekend of the season when they begin a sprint of 12 games over the final five weeks before the playoffs. The team will be in Baltimore and Harrisburg on Feb. 26 and 27 and in Milwaukee and St. Louis March 5 and 6 before returning home to host the Tacoma Stars on Sunday, March 13.
Local fans can score free general admission to all of the team's home games this winter thanks to its sponsors who are presenting the "Tropics Blitz".
The "Tropics Blitz" will provide free general admission tickets as a way of providing a great evening of family entertainment for parents and kids who have had their activities curtailed because of the ongoing pandemic.
Vehicles with two or more persons will pay $20 to park, and then be able to take their parking receipt to the RP Funding Center box office for the same number of free tickets to that day's game as occupants in the vehicle. Single occupant vehicles will pay just $10 for parking.
