Florida Tropics SC News Release

SAN DIEGO, California -- Playing their fourth road game in seven days - two on the east coast and two on the west coast -- proved to be too much for the Florida Tropics as they fell flat against the San Diego Sockers Thursday night, losing 11-4.

The loss means Florida will be the No. 2 seed for the upcoming Major Arena Soccer League playoffs, which will start next weekend. The Tropics will play the second-game of the home-and-home series to open the playoffs on Sunday, April 10 at 5 p.m. If the two teams split those games, a 15-minute mini game will be held at the conclusion of game two to determine who moves on to the MASL semi-finals.

San Diego raced to a 5-0 first-quarter lead, and Florida got no closer than four goals the rest of the way, with the Sockers building their advantage to as many as eight goals in the second half.

Victor Parreiras scored twice, while Chad Vandegriffe and Breno Oliveria each scored once for Florida which fell to 18-3-2. San Diego improved to 22-0-1. Tavoy Morgan poured in five goals for San Diego.

The Tropics will close their regular season with a visit from the Baltimore Blast Sunday, April 3 at the RP Funding Center. Kickoff will be at 3:05 p.m.
