Seattle Thunderbirds News Release

The Seattle Thunderbirds are pleased to announce right wing Branden Troock has been named to Team Canada for the Under-18 World Championships in Brno and Znojmo, Czech Republic, from April 12 to April 22.

"This is a great opportunity for Branden to gain experience and help his draft position by playing against some of the best players from other countries in his draft class," said T-Birds general manager Russ Farwell. "He will do well in this tournament."

Troock, from Edmonton, Alberta, just finished his first season with the T-Birds. He appeared in 58 games this season and had 14 goals and 12 assists for 26 points with 89 penalty minutes.

He is currently ranked number 90 by NHL Central Scouting in the Mid-Term rankings of players in their first year of eligibility for the 2012 NHL Draft.

The Under-18 World Championship is a 10-team tournament. Team Canada is in Group A with the United States, Denmark, Czech Republic and Finland. Group B is comprised of Germany, Latvia, Switzerland, Sweden and Russia.
