The 2012 Tri-City Storm Skills Competition headlines the "Hockey Night in Kearney" celebration and helps to kick off the annual "Hockey Weekend Across America" initiative by USA Hockey that takes place February 17-19. Tri-City Storm players will be divided into two teams, led by captains Nick Lappin and Kenny Brooks, and take part in five different skills events which are then followed by a 3-on-3 game between the two teams. During the competition, the Storm players will show off the team's new white uniforms and alternate purple jerseys.
"Team Lappin" and "Team Brooks" will compete in the hardest shot, fastest skater, stick handling relay, shootout elimination, and breakaway challenge events. The team earning the greatest number of points throughout the competition will be crowned the winner of the first-ever team skills competition. In addition, the Storm will include local youth players to participate in select events.
Fans can watch the event via the USHL's Facebook page by clicking on the "USHL on FASTHockey" application, and then enter their FASTHockey account information or sign up for a free account to watch the skills competition.
