Tri-City Diesel News Release
Kearney, Nebraska-The Tri-City Diesel ended the Sioux City Bandits three game-winning streak by beating them 68-44. The Diesel led the Bandits the entire game and went into halftime with a score of 33-10.
The Diesel defense was stingy while the Diesel offense was greedy. The Diesel defense held the Bandits to just 10 first half points and just 62 yards on the ground. The Diesels Defensive Backs also picked off Bandit quarterback, Oscar Davenport, three times, with Theo Johnson snagging two and Demetrius Ross getting the other INT. However the Diesels offense was led by a six-touchdown performance by the NIFLs leading rusher, Wes Cates. Cates ended the game with 27 carries for 89 yards and the six touchdowns. Also with a big game tonight was Wide Receiver, Jason Mitchell, he snagged 6 catches for 108 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The win for the Diesel gives them a 5-2 overall record and still keeps them at the top of the Pacific South Division. The Diesel will travel next week to take on the Omaha Beef for the second time this year. In the previous meeting the Diesel came out on top by a score of 41-30.
