
Tri-City Americans' Drew Owsley Named CHL Goaltender Of The Week

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Drew Owsley of the Tri-City Americans is the CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending December 20. Owsley was perfect this week recording two shutout victories in two starts posting an incredible goals-against-average of 0.000 and save percentage of 1.000.
Owsley made 78 saves and was named the first star of the game in both of the Americans' U.S Division road games this week. His week began on Friday night where he made 32 saves including 12 in the third period to preserve the 3-0 shutout win over the Everett Silvertips. He recorded his fourth shutout of the season on Saturday in Portland where he made 46 saves including 22 in the second period in the 6-0 victory over the Winterhawks.
Owsley, an 18-year-old from Lethbridge, AB, is playing in his second WHL season with the Americans. He leads the league with 25 wins and his four shutouts are tied for a league-high. In 34 games Owsley has a goals-against-average of 2.50 and save percentage of.917 for the Western Conference leading Americans who have 52 points heading into the winter break.
Also considered for the award this week was Raffaele D'Orso of the Val d'Or Foreurs and Troy Passingham of the Windsor Spitfires. Both goalies won two games with D'Orso posting a goals-against-average of 1.92 with a save percentage of.938, while Passingham posted a 1.50 goals-against-average and a.952 save percentage.
