Trentowski Named Rookie of the Month

BROOKLYN, New York - The Brooklyn Aviators are pleased to announce, in conjunction with the Federal Hockey League, that defenseman Ken Trentowski has been named the FHL's Rookie of the Month for January.

"Ken is a reliable defenseman that the team can count on each night, while his game continues to improve," said Aviators Head Coach and President, Rob Miller. "We are very proud of Ken and his achievement."

Trentowski, 23, currently leads all Aviator defenseman in goals (6), and points (28), while his 22 assists are tied for second most on the club. He also is tied for fourth among all FHL defensemen in scoring with his 28 points - in 33 games played - this season.

The Ronkonkoma, NY native dressed in all 11 games for the Aviators this past month, and showed one goal and 11 helpers for 12 points, which lead all A's blue-liners in January.

Trentowski joined Brooklyn in early November after starting the 2011-12 year with the Augusta RiverHawks of the Southern Professional Hockey League, recording two assists in two games.

Prior to skating in the professional ranks, Trentowisk wrapped up his four-year career with Yale University (NCCA I) this past season. The two-time ECAC champion finished his collegiate tenure with two goals and 13 assists for 15 points in 93 career games for the Bulldogs (2007-11).

He is the second Aviators rookie to win the FHL's monthly award, as Andrew Owsiak took home the honor for Brooklyn last month.

The Aviators return to action tomorrow night when they take on the Danbury Whalers at the Danbury Ice Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:35 p.m. and can be watched live via the Whalers broadcast network powered by LiveSportsVideo.com.
