May 2, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL) News Release

PRINCETON, N.J. - Trenton right wing Rick Kowalsky is the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for the second round of the 2005 Kelly Cup Playoffs.

The 6-1 and 195 pound Kowalsky scored in all four games against Reading and led Trenton in the North Division Finals with seven points (3g-4a), helping the Titans advance to the conference finals for the third time since 2000.

After scoring a goal in a 4-2 loss at Reading in Game 1, the 12-year veteran scored the decisive goal in Trenton's 2-1 road win in Game 2. He had a goal and an assist in the Titans 3-2 overtime win in Game 3 and had three assists in Trenton's 4-3 come-from-behind win in Game 4.

Kowalsky, who helped Trenton reach the Kelly Cup Finals in 2001, enters the National Conference Finals with a six-game scoring streak (4g-6a) and leads the Titans with four goals while his 10 points in seven games ties him for the team scoring lead.

Selected in the 10th round (227th overall) by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft, Kowalsky is in his 10th ECHL season and has scored a total of 550 points (221g-329a) in 518 ECHL games. In his second season with Trenton, he finished third on the team in scoring with 52 points (23g-29a) and led the Titans with 12 power-play goals.

A native of Simcoe, Ontario, Kowalsky has played in the American Hockey League with Cornwall, Portland and Norfolk, scoring 92 points (35g-57a) in 183 games, and in the British Elite Hockey League with Cardiff. Prior to turning professional, he played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey league with Sault-Ste. Marie.
