July 18, 2007 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release
Central Hockey League President Brad Treliving has today accepted a multi-year contract offer to become Assistant General Manager of the National Hockey League's Phoenix Coyotes, joining General Manager Don Maloney's hockey operations staff. "Brad brings a diverse skill-set to what we are trying to accomplish here at the Coyotes," said Maloney. "His work at the CHL has been excellent, and he is a great addition to our front office team."
Treliving, 37, co-founded the Western Professional Hockey League in 1996, and assumed the role of Central Hockey League President following the May/2001 merger between the two organizations. Under his guidance the CHL has recorded six consecutive âAA' average attendance crowns while welcoming numerous highly successful expansion franchises.
"We are deeply appreciative of Brad's unwavering loyalty and efforts to our organization in his 11 plus years of service," said Rick Kozuback, President and CEO of Global Entertainment Corporation (AMEX: GEE), the CHL's parent company. "The Central Hockey League's great many successes can be in large part attributed to the passion and desire Brad brought to the office every day, and we wish him nothing but success as joins the Phoenix Coyotes."
"As I embark on this new opportunity, I wish thank the great number of individuals who have helped make the Central Hockey League the flourishing organization it remains today," said Treliving. "Our entire front office, Global Entertainment, team owners, employees, coaches
and past and present players are to be commended for the great many achievements we
have enjoyed together. I will fondly cherish my experiences and time representing both the
Central and Western Professional Hockey Leagues."
Treliving's departure comes two days after the announcement that Steve Cherwonak, Vice President of Communications, has accepted the title of General Manager with the CHL's Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. The process of filling both vacancies will begin in the immediate future as the CHL continues preparations for its 16th season of play, beginning October 19th.
