Youngstown SteelHounds News Release
YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO - Youngstown SteelHounds Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Kaminski announced today that the team has signed goaltender Layne Sedevie (Pronounced said-a-VEE) for the 2007-08 season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Sedevie, 24, comes to the Hounds after playing four years of Division I hockey with Bemidji State University (Minnesota). While with the Beavers the native of Bismarck, North Dakota had a 29-21-4 record in 54 games with two shutouts. Prior to attending Bemidji State the 5-9, 180 pound net minder played two seasons in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Sioux Falls Stampede and the Topeka Scarecrows.
Head Coach Kevin Kaminski is excited to bring the young goalie to Youngstown saying, "He had a solid college career and we need him to bring his work ethic and leadership to the pro game." Kaminski went onto say, "He has great quickness and is excellent when he has the puck in his possession."
Sedevie is the first goaltender to be signed by the team this season and joins defenseman Denis Kirstein as the only rookies signed by the SteelHounds this off-season.
