April 12, 2013 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) News Release

CALGARY, April 12, 2013 - Travelodge Canada is pleased to announce the names of the two grand prize winners of the Travelodge Canada Fan Faceoff contest. Each of our winners has won a trip for four people to the 2013 MasterCard Memorial Cup in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (May 24 - 26, 2013).

The grand prize winners were chosen from two teams that went undefeated during the 19 week run of the Travelodge Fan Faceoff contest which concluded March 31, 2013. Susan Hughes of Calgary was the winning fan from all entries received supporting the Calgary Hitmen in the Western Hockey League and Crystal Paquin from Sudbury was the lucky fans chosen from all of the entries supporting the Sudbury Wolves in the Ontario Hockey League.

"With almost 64,000 votes tallied during the contest we were thrilled by the support of hockey fans in both leagues", said Patti Hunt Director, Marketing & Communications Travelodge Canada. "The fans of the Canadian Hockey League are truly passionate about their teams and their communities and we were pleased to see the level of engagement from fans across the country."

Fans were encouraged to declare their loyalty to their favorite team at the outset of the contest and vote daily during the 17 week round robin style contest. In addition to the grand prize, and weekly prizes, Travelodge will host an event in Calgary and Sudbury early in the 2013/14 CHL season to celebrate the winning fans of the contest in each league.

"The Ontario Hockey League's partnership with Travelodge this season has been outstanding," said OHL Commissioner David Branch. "It is fitting that the first winner of the Fan Faceoff Contest should come from a great hockey community like Sudbury with what is considered one of the most loyal and passionate fan bases in the entire OHL."
