Tucson Toros News Release
TUCSON, AZ - The Tucson Toros, (4-2) did it again on Saturday as Jim Rushford played hero with a two-out, bottom of the ninth walk off base hit, against the Victoria Seals at Hi Corbett field.
The Toros battled back after a shaky start where the home team found themselves down 10-0 after just one and a half innings of play. Dan Knox got roughed up on the hill but he escaped with a no decision after coming out of the game in the top of the second inning.
The Toros used five pitchers in the ball game with Jordan Muir doing the bulk of the work as he threw four perfect innings of relief, setting up Reid Price, (1-3) who earned the win out of the pen for the second night in a row.
Victoria starter Roberto Sotolongo did not figure in the decision where he gave up 12 runs, one earned, as his team's defense let him down with a league record tying eight errors. Ethan Katz, (1-3) picked up the loss for the visiting Seals.
Mayobanex Santana was the Toros top hitter on the night as he went 3-5, scored two runs and drove in one RBI. Skip Adams and Dustin Yount also contributed to the Tucson offense as they each had a pair of base knocks, and each infielder drove in three RBI. Yount really sparked the Toros attack as he hit a solo bomb to lead off the third inning.
The two teams will play the final game of their three game series, tomorrow night at Hi Corbett Field. The game is set to start at 7:00 pm, with gates opening at 6:00.
