Toros Suffer First Loss of the Season to Locomotive

EDINBURG, Texas - Rio Grande Valley FC (3-1-0) fall to El Paso Locomotive FC (1-0-1) 1-0 on the road on Saturday night.
El Paso took a locker room lead within 18 seconds into the match after a failed clearance attempt by Tyler Deric bounced off the foot of a pressuring Locomotive attacker Luis Solignac, deflecting into the left side of the net, 1-0. Solignac holds the quickest goal scored against RGV FC which stands at 10 seconds in 2020 while with San Antonio FC, tonight's goal is the second fastest goal conceded by the Toros also by Solignac.
Though the Toros conceded a quick goal, they kept 48.4% possession throughout the first half and wasn't able to capitalize on the opportunities confronted. In the 7th minute John Henry Sanchez sent a long shot from outside the box but Adrian Zendejas managed to save it at the top right corner of the goal.
In the 17th minute, Elvis Amoh sent a left footed shot from outside the box but missed to the right side of the goal. Deric was tested once again before heading into the locker room after being forced to dive for a clearance out to corner.
The second half was kept at zero, keeping the opportunities limited for the Toros despite being down a man. Josue Gomez tested Deric after sending left footed strike but missed out wide to the right in the 70th minute. In the 82nd minute Christian Sorto was able to send a long shot but missed to the left of the goal.
During stoppage time Deric continued to be tested by a strong El Paso side. Solignac sent a right footed shot from outside the box but the attempt was blocked by RGV. one minute later, Diego Luna threatened the goal after a missed opportunity.
The Toros were able to take five total shots, one being on target. El Paso totaled 15 shots, two on target.
Sorto led the attacking efforts with two total shots while being able to intercept El Paso twice. Adrian Diz Pe led defensively with three tackles, seven clearances and four interceptions. Both shots on target by the Locomotive were saved by Deric.
