June 21, 2010 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Tucson Toros News Release

The Tucson Toros lost the series finale in heartbreaking fashion as the Chico Outlaws rallied in the 9th to win 5-4.

Toros lefty Cody Walden was strong in his seven innings of work, keeping Chico off the scoreboard for the first 5 innings. In total, the Tucson native and struck out 7 batters, allowing just 3 unearned runs.

Chico's 3 unearned tallies put them in the lead, but the Toros rallied right back with 4 runs of their own beginning in the 6th inning as Leftfielder Lino Garcia scored off of an error by Chico Second Baseman Bobby Hill. Shortstop Ryan Priddy drove in a drive with an RBI groundout in the 7th to make cut the Outlaw's lead to 3-2.

Tucson would go ahead in the 8th when they took a 4-3 lead, with RBI singles by Rightfielder Francisco Plasencia and Pinch Hitter Jim Rushford.

Chico countered with a rally of their own in the 9th to overtake the Toros with a 2-run bomb by Outlaws' First Baseman Rich Janeway over the rightfield wall to make the score 5-4.

Tucson had the tying run on base in the bottom of the 9th, but Lino Garcia was thrown out at home on a single by Wally Backman Jr. to thwart the comeback.

The Toros will head out on the road for a quick 3-game series in St. George against Roadrunners beginning Tuesday. Southpaw Vince Davis will take the mound looking for his 4th win on the season. The Toros will return home to begin a 6-game homestand on Friday, June 25th.
