Tucson Toros News Release
Long Beach, CA - The Tucson Toros were shutout by the Long Beach Armada 2-0 in the team's return to action after the GBL All-Star break.
The Toros offense mustered just four hits off of Armada starter Jose Lima, whom the team beat just six days prior. Lima was at his best Thursday night though, allowing just five baserunners in 7 2/3 innings to earn his fourth victory of the season.
Toros starter Vince Davis was effective in his five innings of work, striking out five and allowing just one run.
Centerfeilder Andre Marshall had the Toros only extra-base hit of the game with a double as part of his 1-for-4 game.
With the dominant pitching the game was over after a brisk two hours and thirteen minutes.
The Toros and Armada will square off again Saturday in the second game of the four game series. A linked feed of the Long Beach broadcast will be available at www.tucsontoros.com.
