Toronto Rock News Release
TORONTO - The Toronto Rock Lacrosse Club is excited to present our home opener at the Air Canada Centre on January 20th, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. against the Rochester Knighthawks.
This Toronto Rock team is ready to bring lacrosse back to the ACC. Head coach Glenn Clark and the rest of the coaching staff have shaped a revised roster with sixteen returning veterans and eight new team mates. The players have been attending training camp and practices since October and are anxious to get back in front of their loyal fans and pursue the Champions Cup this year.
Nine seasons into the Toronto Rock's history, we are continually amazed by our fans' enthusiasm brought to each home game and in return we have dedicated our home opener of 2007 as the "Lays Ultimate Fan Appreciation Night." Having been inspired by five long time season ticket holders (self titled "The Insane Posse", aka "Red Wig Guys"), the Toronto Rock will give out 3,000 red wigs to the first people to enter through various gates at the ACC on January 20th 2007. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. The Rock look forward to seeing a crowd of red wigs and the effect it will have on the energy at the Air Canada Centre on this evening.
The Molson Export Hot Rocks have been working hard at putting together some new routines and entertainment duo, Two For The Show will bring back their guitars for another season. Allan Mackay and Rob Tyler, previously game day hosts will return this year as the house band during the games and after-parties at Joe Badali's. Tyler and Mackay are "honoured to once again be given the opportunity to play for the greatest fans in the world!"
Toronto Rock fans can expect some exciting theme nights and activities throughout the season, such as the player autograph day, the charity game and jersey auction, the famous Mascot game and the Skills with the Stars and Dance camps. Fans will also spot some changes in the off floor action. Game day announcer and voice of the Rock, Bruce Barker, will be announcing from the new "Barking Lot", a section merged into the stands to provide the fans with an interactive and visual experience during big game moments. The Rock will also introduce a fresh face for the season with a female hostess, Kasia Sarnecki, to lead the in-arena activities and promotions.
There are eight home games in the regular season schedule and each one will bring new surprises and entertainment you can't find at any other sporting event in Toronto. For your convenience, season ticket orders will be accepted up until the day before the home opener game on Friday, January 19th 2007. Visit www.torontorock.com/tickets for information or contact Ian Thomson at the Rock office, 416-596-3075, ext. 232.
