Player moves: Tornado say goodbye to Boyer, welcome Gregory
Texas Tornado Head Coach and General Manager Tony Curtale has announced that Tornado forward Axel Boyer has decided to leave the team as he prepares for a church mission in May. ¬ÅAxel came to me and we had a long, very productive talk, ¬Â said Curtale. ¬ÅHe is preparing to go on a two-year mission for his church in May and he thought that he could not give 100% to us while he prepares for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Axel is a great person and gave us a lot during his time with the Tornado. We wish him all the success in the world and hope his mission is a successful one. ¬Â Meanwhile, the Tornado have traded for forward Patrick Gregory from the Michigan Warriors in exchange for future considerations. Gregory, 19, is a defensive forward according to Curtale and a player the Tornado have been watching for a while. ¬ÅWe first saw Patrick when he was playing for the St. Louis Jr. Blues of the NA3HL last season and we liked what we saw, ¬Â said Curtale. ¬ÅHe is a solid defensive forward, who hopefully will be able to thrive in our system. ¬Â Gregory (5 ¬â¢9/175) appeared in 27 of the 33 Warriors games, scoring 11 points (5 g, 6 a).
