Tornado Host Tryout Camp in McKinney this Weekend

FRISCO, TEXAS - The Texas Tornado hockey team of the North American Hockey League begin the first step of the 2011-12 season as they host the first of three summer tryout camps beginning this weekend with a four-day, pre-draft camp at the Dr Pepper StarCenter in McKinney, Texas. The camp begins on Thursday, May 12th with a goalies only session, followed by the main camp beginning Friday, May 13th and continuing through Sunday, May 15th.

The tryout camp in McKinney is the first of three for the Texas Tornado during the next month. The Tornado will host their second tryout camp in Burnsville, Minnesota from June 3-5, and their final tryout camp in Farmington Hills, Michigan from June 9-12. The McKinney tryout camp this weekend precedes the 2011 NAHL Draft, which will take place on Thursday, May 26th at 1:00pm (cst) live on nahl.com.

The Texas Tornado, proud members of the 28-team North American Hockey League, play at the state-of-the-art Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco, which now offers more seating, more amenities and more great action featuring the players that are the future of hockey. Since their inception in 1999, the Texas Tornado has set the standard for excellence for hockey for players ages 21 and under in the United States. Besides their three straight National Championships from 2004-2006, the Tornado has won seven NAHL Regular Season Division titles and had seven straight 40+ win seasons from 1999-2007. Since 1999, the Tornado have developed and moved on over 120 players in ten years onto NHL, NCAA and professional teams.
