
Tornado Defeats IceDiggers 5-1

Blaine MN: The three time Robertson Cup Champion Texas Tornado rebounded from last nights drubbing against the USA U-18 team to defeat the Alpena IceDiggers tonight by a score of 5-1.
Alpena came out flat and it showed with the Tornado striking first to take an early 1-0 lead. The IceDiggers would tie the game at one on a power play goal by assistant captain Todd Rudasill (Powell OH) with Nolan Craner (Plainwell MI) and Ben Kitzmiller (Lambertville MI) picking up the assists.
Texas would score the final 4 goals of the game to record their first win of the season.
Shawn Hunwick (Sterling Hts. MI) took the loss in net allowing 5 goals on 37 shots.
With the loss it drops the IceDiggers record to 2-1 leaving them 2 points behind first place USA and tied with the expansion Marquette Rangers in the young season.
The IceDiggers wrap up the annual Showcase tomorrow afternoon at 2:30PM with a contest against the St. Louis Bandits who currently hold the 2nd place spot in the South Division.

Alpena IceDiggers season ticket holders can pick up their season tickets on Monday Sept. 18 and Tuesday Sept. 19 between the hours of 12:00PM and 6:00PM. All tickets must be paid in full before tickets will be released.
