Texas Tornado News Release

Another busy week greets the Texas Tornado after their weekend split at Springfield, Illinois. On Wednesday, the Tornado face a team of current and former Dallas Stars players, including Stars captain and Tornado co-owner Mike Modano in the inaugural Pros vs. Prospects Tornado Charity Classic at 7:30 pm.

All the proceeds from the Pros vs. Prospects Tornado Charity Classic will be donated to the Texas Tornado and Mike Modano Foundations, along with the various charities of the NHL stars participating in the event. Following the game, there will be a live auction for the fans to bid on all of the game-worn jerseys worn by both teams.

Others scheduled to play on the Pros team include Dallas Stars' players Marty Turco, Brenden Morrow, Sergei Zubov, Aaron Downey, Stu Barnes, and Phillipe Boucher. Former Dallas Stars players Joe Nieuwendyk, Mike Keane, Shane Corson, Guy Carbonneau, Teppo Numminen, Craig Ludwig, Richard Matvichuk, Brent Severyn, Grant Marshall, and Lyle Odelien are also scheduled to play in the game. Dallas Stars Head Coach Dave Tippett will be putting down the coaching hat for a night and lacing up his skates, playing along with the pros. Tickets for the event sold out in a little over four hours.

Friday, the Tornado travel to Wichita Falls to take on the Wildcats, one of two possible first round opponents in the playoffs.

Saturday, the Tornado return home for their final game before the playoffs against the Central Texas Marshals. Saturday night is Fan Appreciation Night. The Tornado Prize Patrol will be out in full force, giving away a lot of prizes -- and the first 2,000 fans receive a free Tornado hat, courtesy of Money Mailer.

The 2004-05 South Division Champion Tornado will serve as the top seed in the upcoming 2005 Robertson Cup Playoffs beginning Friday, April 1 and Saturday, April 2 at the Dr Pepper StarCenter in Frisco.
