Torbert, Mallett American Association Players Of The Week

DURHAM, NC - PA-Sportsticker, the official statistician of the American Association, selected Sioux Falls Canaries OF Beau Torbert and El Paso Diablos RHP Justin Mallett as the Teamline Direct Batter and Pitcher of the Week.

Torbert batted .400 with three home runs, nine RBI and seven runs scored. The Phenix City, AL resident collected 12 hits, including three doubles, along with a slugging percentage of .800 and a .438 on-base percentage. In the 13-10 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs Friday, Torbert went 2-for-4 with two home runs, three runs scored and seven RBI. The 26-year-old finished the season hitting .346 with 12 home runs and 60 RBI. Torbert was second in slugging at .538 and third in batting average.

This is the second Pitcher of the Week award for Mallett. In the 2-1 win over the Shreveport-Bossier Captains Wednesday, Mallett went eight innings allowing one unearned run on five hits with two walks and six strikeouts. The Sarasota, FL resident wrapped up the year going 7-4 with an earned run average of 3.48.
